Fox Sports Australia engaged PPC to Project Manage their fitout and broadcast facility relocation in July 2011. PPC's role included completing a return client brief, commissioning design consultants, working with Fox Sports user groups, design management, Agreement for Lease administration, design management, long lead time procurement engagement of the Construction Management contractor and ongoing management, fitout budget management and reporting to the Fox Sports Executive lead.

The project scope included the complete relocation of the entire Fox Sports Australia broadcast operation. The total area comprised of:

  • Four studios & associated control rooms
  • Edit suites
  • Broadcast operations (Master Control, Asset Management and Presentation Suites)
  • Voiceover rooms
  • Audio post suites
  • Television Broadcast data centre infrastructure including mission critical mechanical and electrical services
  • Associated office and open plan workspaces.
We worked closely with Fox Sports to develop and manage an overall transition program. This enabled the key areas of risk to be identified and controlled, in particular the interface between the Systems Integration and Fitout Contractors.

The timeframe in which this project had to be delivered was a key risk that PPC was responsible for managing. We were responsible for managing the scope and design of required base building changes to accommodate the broadcast requirements including undertaking negotiations with the developer and contractor. We also worked with Fox Sports to successfully negotiate several early access provisions to enable broadcast access to be achieved that were not part of the original Agreement for Lease.

The project was completed on time and within budget whilst maintaining broadcast continuity during the transition.
